Fraxel Laser

The Fraxel Dual is the leading and most advanced non-ablative laser resurfacing system available today. The technology behind the Fraxel lasers is revolutionary, as the Fraxel lasers only treat a fraction of the skin at a time, leaving surrounding tissue untouched. This allows the treated skin area to heal naturally, replacing old and damaged skin cells with fresher, glowing skin. The fractional technology approach also allows for much quicker healing (and less “downtime”) than with other, traditional laser resurfacing.

The Fraxel Dual has two lasers, allowing for the treatment of both superficial and deep skin layers. The firstlaser is specifically designed to remove unwanted sunspots, freckles, and other skin blemishes and pigmentation, and provide a refreshed and clearer-toned skin appearance. The second laser targets deeper layers of skin to reduce fine to medium wrinkles, as well as acne and surgical scars. Both lasers can be used on the face, neck and other parts of the body, or combined to maximize results.

Most patients see improvement within a few days to a week, and continue to see improvement over the course of the subsequent weeks, as treated skin cells continue to generate new collagen. Multiple treatments are recommended to achieve the ideal results, each treatment typically occurring four to six weeks apart. The specific type and number of treatments will vary depending upon various factors, including the patient’s goals, lifestyle, and the condition of the patient’s skin. We work to obtain a true understanding of our patient’s skin and objectives so that we may tailor a treatment plan that best suits each person.

Most patients experience some degree of redness or swelling after the procedure, which should diminish over the next day or two. Following a few days, the treated skin will peel and slough off, similar to what one would experience with sunburned skin. Within one week, the exfoliation process is typically complete, leaving the skin rejuvenated, clear-toned, smoother and more youthful.
